Synopsis The Revenant 2015 Hollywood Movie
A frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.

My views
'The Revenant' is great storytelling with gorgeous cinematic backdrops. It's a revenge story more than anything. It also highlight's the  human perseverance and the will to live. The things that happen to this man are truly horrific and difficult to watch who is none other than Leonardo Di Caprio.  He gives a heart-wrenching performance as Hugh Glass, expressing a wide range of emotions despite the limited dialogue. Tom Hardy is also phenomenal as one of the most horrid, wretched human beings on the planet. This guy is despicable to the core, and you forget you're watching Tom Hardy at times because he's completely absorbed in the role.  As far as performances and cinematography goes, The Revenant is flawless. Leonardo Di Caprio is a fine actor and should have been given an Oscar for Wolf of Wall Street instead of this codswallop, where he hardly has to act. He gives a good performance in the film but I just don't think it's an Oscar-caliber role. The story did not carry the film to me. I felt like it was a good story but the acting and the visuals of the movie really carried it.

Synopsis Ex Machina 2015 Hollywood Movie
A young programmer is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment in synthetic intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a breath-taking humanoid A.I.

My views
'Ex Machina' is all about what makes human human. The movie doesn't bombard you with or with special effects.Rather, its beauty and emphasis lie in the astute and nuanced performances of its tiny cast as the film explores what it means to be human. There are many quiet dialogue scenes between two characters which impacts the film, making them feel hauntingly flinty, fresh and innocent, or terrible and frightening, through diligent use of composition, light and sound. The performances are excellent, most notably    who absolutely passes for being 'almost human'. Her precise movements -standing, walking or stooping to pull on a pair of stockings- have just that slight tinge of the strange about them to suggest a mechanical skeleton, yet she is undeniably seductive. You can really understand Caleb's mental plight as she begins to show signs of a sexual interest in him. A scene setting ambient soundtrack additionally creates just the right off the mood to highlight the events. But it's ultimately the good writing that supports the success of this film.'Ex Machina' shines and worthy of labeling it as an sci-fi classic.

Synopsis Room 2015 Hollywood Movie
A young boy is raised within the confines of a small shed.

My views
This movie is based on Emma Donoghue's book 'Room'. "Room" shares the innocent perspective of a five year old named Jack who is led to believe by his mother that life consists of being inside a tiny room forever. We can relate this movie with 'Life Is Beautiful' and 'Pan's Labyrinth' because in all this titles we see a young human with such an innocent perspective and big imagination that somehow softens the cruel reality by tricking the mind and distorting what is actually happening. The movie also shows the psychology of both of the primary characters after living through a traumatic experience. Jack not being able to walk upstairs since he had never done it before in Room is one example. This movie made me feel grateful about my life because you get to see Jack and his mother happy after all. Towards the ending of the movie Jack says  'Since Mama and I don't know what we like, we decided we are going to try everything'. That's my favorite part of the movie because it means Jack is finally ready to open himself up and be a part of the big world. Watch if you enjoy drama.

Synopsis Ant-Man 2015 Hollywood Movie
Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

My views
Marvel has surpassed my expectations again and turned something I thought would be lame and uninteresting into something hilarious and actually pretty cool.  I learned a lot about the story as well as the abilities he has. The movie gets much more interesting when doing combat. The ability to shrink and grow at will is something Marvel has gotten very creative with along with CGI. The story is very simple, but it's entertaining enough to make us see it to the end. Ant-Man is well worth your time as it is fast-paced film with a generally humorous tone and it provides the audience with a fairly novel concept. For me though it's the sense of fun and likability that Ant-Man brings that won me over in the end. This is the movie for any age.

Synopsis The Martians 2015 Hollywood Movie
An astronaut becomes stranded on Mars after his team assume him dead, and must rely on his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.

My views
This movie is based on the Novel written by Andy Weir. Having said so, I would like you all to give it in 5 minute and please read his other impressive short story - The Egg.
'The Martians' serves both as an epic Sci-Fi adventure, but also provides viewers with some smart laughs. It was great fun watching this film. Usually movies in this genre can be quite cliched but the movie was a very fresh take. It was at times both desolate and intense, and yet somehow still managed to find comedic relief. The acting was superb and a lot of the shots of the sparse terrain of Mars really helped give off that feeling of being alone.  It was great watching Matt science his way out of all of his problems, even if most of the science was probably not realistic or accurate. Simply put, if you're tired of all the dark, gritty and absolutely bland blockbusters, see the Martians.

Synopsis The Hateful Eight 2015 Hollywood Movie
In the dead of a Wyoming winter, a bounty hunter and his prisoner find shelter in a cabin currently inhabited by a collection of nefarious characters.

My views
Ignore the haters of this film and just watch the show. The story-line is a simple one, but it's told in a interesting, complex  and relatively unique way that is guaranteed to keep your eyes glued to the screen throughout the entire three hour run time of the movie.  Most of the part of the  film is set inside the haberdashery which promotes a claustrophobic feeling and with the amount of dialogue that takes place, it occasionally lends itself to a theatrical setting. When the outdoor locations are used, the grandeur of the snow-filled landscape provides a sense of remoteness. Both the interiors and exteriors generate the tension that Tarantino's script doesn't always display. There are moments of intensity that are interrupted by a throwaway line. It is a ramble story that bends at times so an edit of about half an hour would have resulted in a tighter, more efficient production. I wasn't bored throughout the almost three hours running time, but I have to say that I have been watching a lot of slow movies recently, so my patience has been trained. There were a few twists and turns in the second part of the movie, and the end was somewhat interesting, but it also felt a bit weak after a three hour buildup. 'The Hate Eight' gets the big 8.

Synopsis In the Heart of the Sea 2015 Hollywood Movie
A recounting of a New England whaling ship's sinking by a giant whale in 1820, an experience that later inspired the great novel Moby-Dick

My views
This movie is about the angry whale and non other than Moby Dick. In the Heart of the Sea is no exception and nice to see  starring in a history based movie rather then the Thor fantasy movie. The cast was actually pretty good. Chris throwing his "Thor" command and putting himself in that time period was a good change, Cillian Murphy which we all know from Batman and Tom Holland from Spider-man knew their part. Some people actually wanted more scenes of the whale, but if you want something like that, go watch a whale monster movie. The film is about extreme survival where decent humans had to throw away their humanity to survive and Ron Howard did a great job in presenting that to us. It is an interesting excursion with fine visual. Granted, it doesn't navigate well enough under some waves, yet this homage to a great classic has its enchanting and inspiring moments with visually dazzling moments.

Synopsis It Follows 2015 Hollywood Movie
A young woman is followed by an unknown supernatural force after a sexual encounter.

My views
The basic premise of "It follows" is  a  "thing" (demon, entity etc) is passed between couples having sex. And then it follows the 'host' until it is passed on to the next host, again following sex. That's easy to understand. What isn't is how our heroine Jay, played beautifully by , attempts to resolve her plight. Really, this is a rare horror performance, understated and properly acted. Her fear is perceptible. And she doesn't go wandering into unlit basements every five minutes. It's up there with Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween. However, the plot becomes pretty confusing, but it kind of doesn't matter because throughout this great movie you're just taken in by its vitality, outstanding cinematography, freshness and the endless MacGuffins. It's a great addition to the world of horror. Not as terrifying, but absorbing and pure quality from start to startling finish.

Synopsis Trainwreck 2015 Hollywood Movie
Having thought that monogamy was never possible, a commitment-phobic career woman may have to face her fears when she meets a good guy.

My views
'Trainwreck' movie is directed by and written by . They are both very funny and productive talents but the material here is simply above their artistic maturity level. They know how to make funny scenes; they don't really know how to deal with a drunk who tries to get sober, or a malicious narcissist who tries to be nice to other people. The film is funny but it's not gut busting laughing. The laughs are more of a chuckle. The acting is great everyone played their part very well. The chemistry between her and Bill Hader is great. Also this is probably Judd Apatow's best film since 40 Year Old Virgin. The film is more of a chick flick but there are some chick flicks that I thought were funnier than this film like Bridesmaids. Also this could be a great date film for couples. I do find this film way over-hyped and probably one of the most overrated films so far this year. Overall if your a fan of Amy Schumer or Judd Apatow then you'll enjoy this film.

Synopsis The Gift 2015 Hollywood Movie
A young married couple's lives are thrown into a harrowing tailspin when an acquaintance from the husband's past brings mysterious gifts and a horrifying secret to light after more than 20 years.

My views
'The Gift' is a debut for . The film  is outwardly about an upper middle-class married couple – Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall who are terrorized by a ex-classmate of Simon's named Gordo (Joel Edgerton) looking to settle an old score after their move from Chicago back to the former's Los Angeles' East Side neighborhood. And yet, Edgerton, who also wrote the screenplay, is not just content for his psychological thriller to be just another B-grade exercise; instead, there are more than a few nasty surprises in store for an audience jaded by such run-of-the-mill genre fare, and it is Edgerton's emphasis on character rather than empty shock that ultimately pays off in a slow-burn but nevertheless consistently gripping mystery. 'The Gift' movie  is like a present within a present whose pleasure lies not just in finding out what it truly is but also in the process of revealing it layer after layer. That may come off as a drag for less patient audiences or those looking for late-night cable movie thrills, but those willing to accept a slow burn psychological thriller that unfolds at its own measured pace will find much to like about this well-crafted and well-acted package.
