My views
Children of Heaven was my first venture into Iranian Cinema. I wasn't sure what to expect from the film but after few minutes it was fairly evident that this film is something a bit special. This film is played with such beauty and innocence, it is truly an pleasure to watch. The movie is directed perfectly and whole credit goes for Majid Majidi, who is an critically acclaimed director. I thank him truly for his work. His movie experience is like you will fell you are in the movie and experiencing it. The expressions and emotions displayed by the children in the movie speaks louder than any dialogue ever could. I am sure you can even watch this movie without subtitles and understand the same.  Missing this movie would really be a sad deprivation of the senses and the heart after all its not about the movie, but about the experience you get from the film.

My views
A Separation is first Iranian movie towards Oscar and the movie deserves it. The acting is superb just superb with all the emotions shown. A Separation engrosses you into the life of an small Persian family and showed us what exactly happens there. The story is just so real that it could have happened anywhere. The movie makes you think and makes to think that in such events what you may have done. In some sense, you actually cherish the fact that this is life what is all about. The movie has too many beautiful moments, go and do watch it, satisfaction guaranteed.

My views
Whatever I say about this movie is less. This is the best I really mean the best film I have ever seen in my life. I am just awestruck by the simple elegance of this movie. Previously have been seen Majid Majidi movie "The Children of Heaven" and had develop respect for him, but this movie is completely on different level. You can hear the sound of the nature in this film and the mystic message that the movie delivers are too many for this short movie. I just feel in love with the child in the movie and felt like if only I could adopt him. With no more spoilers would highly recommend to watch this gem. Just leave everything apart and watch this movie.

After seeing this movie I can really say "Action do speak louder than words". Baran is one of the most beautifully done movie and well acted. It is of moving unselfish love. It goes to tell that you don't need to have sex or even touching and kissing to feel or show the love that two people have to have with each other.  The scene are more beautiful than words can ever say it. If you have seen 3-irons go for this one too. What an wonderful movie this has been for me.

The Song of Sparrows is about the man living in the outskirts of Tehran finding it very difficult to get the income sufficient for the family but happily living with them. The struggle of the common man is beautifully shown by the actor. The silence of the desert is beautifully captured in the film along with the background music. Overall this movie is a pleasant experience thanks to Majid Majidi.

Synopsis Turtles Can Fly 2004 Iranian Movie
Near the Iraqi-Turkish border on the eve of an American invasion, refugee children like 13-year-old Kak (Ebrahim), gauge and await their fate.

My views
On the Kurdish refugee camp on the Iraqi-Turkish border, the boy Satellite (Soran Ebrahim) is the leader of the kids. He commands them to clear and collect American undetonated minefields in the fields to sell them in the street market and he installs antennae for the villagers. He goes with the local leader to buy a parabolic antenna to learn the news about the eminent American invasion but nobody speaks English and Satellite that knows a couple of words is assigned to translate the Fox News. When the orphans Agrin (Avaz Latif) and her armless brother Hengov (Hiresh Feysal Rahman) and the blind toddler Riga come from Halabcheh to the camp, Satellite falls in an unrequited love for Egrin. But the girl is traumatized by a cruel raid in her home, when her parents were murdered and she was raped. She wants to leave Riga behind and travel with her brother Hengov to another place, but he does not agree with her intention.

Turtles can Fly is an heartbreaking war movie which is hardly shown on the TV news where the victim are the children. This movie is an worth a watch.

Synopsis Persepolis 2007 Iranian Movie
Poignant coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution.

My views
Persepolis has an whole new kind of animation i.e. in black and white and it's an autobiographical about growing up in Iran during the reign of the Shah and later, the Islamists. It tells the story of a young girl growing up in Iran around the time of the Islamic Revolution. does a great job of bringing her story to life and drawing the viewer into her what it was to grow up during a time of political revolution. Using a different style of animation, that closely follows the style of the graphic books, the viewers are pulled into a world that is much different than the world they are used to. Overall I really enjoyed the film and it is one that I may eventually want to see again. 'Persepolis' received rave reviews in France and shared the Cannes festival Jury Prize with Carlos Reygadas' 'Silent Light.' It premiered in the US at the New York Film Festival and opened in some US theaters on Christmas Day.

Synopsis Where is the Friend's Home? 1987 Iranian Movie
An 8 year old boy must return his friend's notebook he took by mistake, lest his friend be punished by expulsion from school.

My views
Where is the Friend's Home? was my first movie directed by Abbas Kiarostami. The movie has minimal dialogues, slow pace and realistic acting and yet this movie touch you right in the heart. You will really get involved with the characters. This movie shows such the simplistic and the innocent of the childhood. Watching this movie is an completely different experience. Adult really do not appreciate the childhood they once had in life. A must watch movie with an art of beautiful cinema.

Synopsis The Past 2013 Iranian Movie
An Iranian man deserts his French wife and her two children to return to his homeland. Meanwhile, his wife starts up a new relationship, a reality her husband confronts upon his wife's request for a divorce.

My views
Yet another movie from the same director as "A Separation". The Past isn't as good as A Separation, but it has many of the defining elements that made A Separation the hit it was. You can always expect the best acting when it comes to Iranian films. Not only the adults, but also the child actors perform splendid. The plot is beautifully presented through a regular daily life we all follow but barely pay enough attention to. The way all characters are involved in the story line, each playing a role in making us look at the story differently is astonishing. All in all, The Past is a movie worth watching for all drama lovers and would like to suggest to keep 2 hours window to look into some simple, ordinary people's life to watch it.
